Security and Privacy Settings

To adjust your security settings, head over to the "Management" section of the ACP. In the grey sidebar menu, under System Settings, click on Security & Privacy.

You will be greeted with the Security & Privacy settings screen. Let's see if we can't make some sense of it:

Allow Registration

If set to 'Yes', guests will be able to register helpdesk accounts and become members.

Require Email Validation

If set to 'Yes', registrants will have to confirm their email addresses before they are placed into the members group.

Require Admin Validation

If set to 'Yes', an administrator must manually approve all new user signups.

Email Validation Expiration

The number of hours before an email validation code expires.

Password Validation Expiration

The number of hours before a password reset code expires.

Session Timeout

The number of minutes a user session lasts until it expires.

Enable CAPTCHA

If set to 'Yes', on some forms, users will be required to enter one of those funky codes to prove that they are indeed of the human kind.

Check Session IP

If set to 'Yes', upon loading, a user's IP address will be checked against the IP stored in the database.

Enable Form Tokens

If set to 'Yes', a random token hash will be verified against the database on each form to deter spam activity.

Check Token IP

If set to 'Yes', the user's IP address will be verified with each form token.


Once you've finished configuring your settings, click "Update Settings".
