Upgrading Trellis Desk
From ACCORD5 Docs
Contents |
To Version 1.0.3
To upgrade to Trellis Desk 1.0.3, you need to be running version 1.0 RC1 or newer. An upgrade path is not provided for any earlier versions.
Before you begin
When you re-upload the "language" folder, the "en" (English) language set will be overwritten. If you have made modifications to your "en" language set, and do not wish to lose them, then do not re-upload the "language" folder. However, doing this will not upgrade your language files and Trellis Desk may not function properly without the new changes. We realize this could be a problem, and future upgrades will be designed to work around this.
Don't forget to backup
As always, re-uploading files will overwrite any code modifications you've made, or any custom code modifications performed for you by ACCORD5. Any changes made to the source code of Trellis Desk will be lost during the upgrade. Please backup all of your helpdesk data before upgrading. You should backup your entire MySQL database AND all of your existing Trellis Desk system files. You can easily make a full backup via the Trellis Desk backup functions. Having a backup on hand will make it very easy to roll back in case something goes wrong during the upgrade process.
Upgrade process
Step 1: Download and unpack
Download the latest copy of Trellis Desk from its product page. Once you've downloaded the Trellis Desk .zip package, unzip it to a convenient location on your hard drive. You can unzip the package using the built-in Windows or Mac extraction functionality, or with products like 7-Zip or StuffIt Expander.
Step 2: Upload system files
You've backed up your data, right? Now, using your favorite FTP client (like FileZilla, FireFTP, or Cyberduck), upload all of the files in the "upload" folder to the location on your server where Trellis Desk is currently installed, overwriting the existing files with the new files and preserving the folder structure. Ensure that you do not delete or overwrite your existing config.php file. View the instruction manual of your FTP client if you need more assistance with file transfers.
Step 3: Start the upgrade wizard
Point your browser to the "upgrade" directory of your Trellis Desk system (i.e. www.yourdomain.com/support/upgrade). Enter your administrative account username and password (you must be an administrator to perform the upgrade).
You will be greeted with the Upgrade Center welcome screen, which will check to make sure that you are about to upgrade to the latest available version of Trellis Desk. Click on the "Begin Upgrade!" button to proceed with the upgrade.
Step 4: Proceed through the upgrade process
On the next screen, you will be presented with an overview of the changes introduced in the new version of Trellis Desk that you are upgrading to. Click on the "Continue" when you are done reading this.
Select the skin sets you would like to update by checking the checkbox next to the desired skin set name. When you choose to update a skin set, all modifications to that skin will be lost. If you choose not to update, you may need to manually make modifications to the skin set's template in order for Trellis Desk to function properly. Once you have finished selecting your skins to update, click "Continue".
Now, click on the "Continue" button to run the required SQL queries.
When the SQL queries have been rebuilt, click on "Continue" to rebuild the cache.
When the cache has been rebuilt, you will be brought to the Upgrade Complete screen. Congratulations! You are now running the latest version of Trellis Desk. Enjoy!
